Disney After Hours: Hollywood Studios

December 13, 2018

Hawt Dog! I'm back with another Disney After Hours post for ya! This time we are blasting over to my absolute favorite park, Hollywood Studios! Hollywood Studios has been my favorite park since the day I moved to Florida because it always makes me feel as though I stepped right onto a movie set from 50 years ago. And now with the new edition of Toy Story Land, there's even more life and color to the park, not to mention the fun new rides! Before I get into details about this event, I would like to thank Disney for inviting me to come! Now, here we go!

Firstly let me just refresh some of the basic details from the Disney After Hours Event in case you missed it on my last post: The After Hours events happen at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. The tickets are $125 if you purchase ahead of time, or $129 if you purchase them day of the event. Passholders and DVC members can get discounted tickets for $95. The event takes place from 8:30-11:30 PM and they have a list of available dates on their website.

Alright so obviously one of the BIGGEST perks of these events are the free treats and beverages! You can pick up free Mickey Bars, ice cream, and soda or water all throughout the night. Since I got a Mickey Bar at the last event, my sister Charity (who attended the event with me) and I decided to get something we actually have never tried before: a strawberry ice cream bar. Now normally I would always go for the chocolate item, but since these were free and UNLIMITED, we decided to get an option we wouldn't normally order. While the bar was good, I think Mickey Bars are still the most magical ice cream in all the land. But hey, if you go to an After Hours Event and are interested in getting one, definitely give it a go. I mean they are free after all! (Only time I will ever get to say that)

Another unexpected perk of the event was that there were still characters out for meet & greets! Honestly I had no idea this was even an option until we arrived. You can meet red carpet Minnie and Sorcerer Mickey over by Star Tours, or you can meet Jesse, Woody, and Buzz over in Toy Story Land. Honestly, these were some of the best meet & greet experiences I have ever had! Firstly, there was absolutely zero line to meet Mickey and Minnie (which let's be honest y'all, NEVER happens) and only a few short minute wait to meet the Toy Story gang. Due to the extremely low crowds, the characters were able to spend more individualized time with each guest and make ever encounter extra special! Minnie did a red carpet cat walk for me, Mickey stole my (Mickey printed) bag and pretended to run away with it, and Buzz and I talked about fashion and took a selfie together! If you are someone who enjoys meeting characters, but hate waiting in lines or feeling rushed, this is the perfect time to do it!

The key perk to the After Hours events though are the little to no wait times for rides. And if you are a rider lover, Hollywood Studios is definitely the park to go to! All of the thrill rides were open: Tower of Terror, Rockin' Rollercoaster, Star Tours, Alien Saucer Spinners, Toy Story Mania, and even Slinky Dog Dash! My sister and I walked directly onto every single ride except for Slinky, where we only waited about 8 minutes! No more stressing about trying to find a Fastpass! And if you can believe it, Charity and I were able to go on every single ride twice (except for Tower, which we only went on once because my sister is extremely scared of it) in only three hours! That right there is worth it!

All in all, it was an extremely wonderful night filled with lots of laughs and lots of screams. Thank you so much to Disney for inviting me! And also thank you all so much for taking the time to read this! If you have any questions, feel free to send them my way!

Disney's Animal Kingdom After Hours

Picture this: you walk into a completely empty Pandora, walk up to Flight of Passage and see that it has no wait time. Then you go and pick up a free Mickey Bar before setting off to ride Expedition Everest in the very back row (best seat, don't fight me on this), again with no wait time. You decide to buy a fruity drink from the bar and skip over to sit in one of the many open seats for the Rivers of Light show. Okay, what world did you just step into? Is this some kind of dream? Nope, this is real life y'all. This is Disney's Animal Kingdom: After Hours.

Firstly I would just like to thank Disney so incredibly much for inviting me to this event! This was my first time at an After Hours event and I am honestly so blown away! So here's the details: The After Hours events happen at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. The tickets are $125 if you purchase ahead of time, or $129 if you purchase them day of the event. Passholders and DVC members can get discounted tickets for $95. The event takes place from 8:30-11:30 PM and they have a list of available dates on their website.

Now onto the fun bits! I honestly think that if you are going to do any After Hours events, Animal Kingdom would be the best one to go to. I have lived in Orlando for three years now and I have only ridden Flight of Passage twice. Why? Because the lines are always so long and I am not a very patient person. But I am not kidding or exaggerating when I say that we literally walked directly onto the ride. Not only that, but we were the only ones on the ride, so we got to sit wherever we wanted! If you're visiting from out of town and want to get the most out of your Disney visit (aka do everything with very little wait times), this is the time for you.

Not all of the rides are open at the After Hours event, but all of the big ones are! In addition to both Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey, Expedition Everest (my favorite ride other than Haunted Mansion), DINOSAUR, TriceraTop Spin, and It's Tough to be a Bug! are all open. Also there is a special showing of Rivers of Light! I remember the first time I went to that show having to make a Fastpass just to make sure I got a seat. However, there are plenty of seats open during the event, so you can walk right up minutes before the show starts and be fine!

And of course what would be a Disney trip without a few snacks? You can pick up unlimited Mickey Bars, popcorn, and beverages during your evening! Wait, I feel like I must emphasis this one more time. UNLIMITED FREE MICKEY BARS. If that doesn't sell ya, I don't know what will!

The bars near Everest and also in Pandora are open if you would like to purchase alcoholic beverages as well! Spoiler alert: I got a drink from both. The first drink I got was the Khumbu Icefall from the bar near Everest. This frozen tropical drink had Guava rum with coconut and raspberry puree. Y'all I'm going to be real honest here, I got so excited when I got that drink in my hand that I immediately began drinking it and totally forgot to even take a picture of it. Sorry! My bad. But I guess that tells you how good it is, right? The second drink I got was the Rum Blossom from Pandora. This one was made with Bacardi rum, layers of apple and desert pear, and topped with passion fruit boba balls. This one was also as delicious as it was colorful (see above picture)!

Honestly there are so many perks of an After Hours event it would take me a novel to write them all out. But I think if I had to break down the three highlights it would be: no wait times, free food, and virtually no crowds.

I cannot thank Disney enough for sending me to the Animal Kingdom After Hours event! I am so excited to also be going to another After Hours event later this week at my favorite park, Hollywood Studios! Seriously y'all, I'm so excited I have at least a dozen different outfits to choose from because when I get really stoked about something, I outfit plan. It's my way of getting out my excitement.

Thank you all so much for reading! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me as I would be more than happy to answer them!

Harvey's Sorcerer Mickey

December 4, 2018

Well in case you guys haven't heard, this year is Mickey's big 90th birthday! So many brands are getting in the spirit by coming out with new limited edition collections for the anniversary. Seriously y'all, there's never been a better time to be a Disney fan. One of my favorite releases is from Harvey's, who were kind enough to send me a couple things from their collection!

The new collection celebrates Mickey in one of his most iconic roles as the Sorcerer's Apprentice from the classic Fantasia movie. I am not kidding when I say I swooned over this entire collection! Although I have loved every Disney collection Harvey's has released, this one might be my favorite to date! I mean how can you not love how adorable Mickey is?

The t-shirt is going to be an item that I wear over and over again as it is so simple and timeless. I just love the retro/vintage vibes the ringer tee gives too! This shirt looks adorable paired with some laid back jeans or even with a cute girly skirt! The style of it is super versatile. And I have no joke worn this bag every single day since the day I opened the box. It is the perfect size for running around at the parks or simply running to Target! And I always love a crossbody bag to keep my hands nice and free for taking pictures or, let's be honest, eating lots of snacks. Plus can we talk about how cute it is with the matching wallet? I love when I pull out the wallet while checking out at a store and the cashier immediately begins complimenting it. (It's happened to me multiple times and it makes me smile every time!)

I hope you guys have been enjoying all of the Mickey merch that has been releasing for his birthday as well! Let me know what some of your favorite items have been so I can add them to my shopping cart!

And thank you ever so much to Harvey's  for sending me these items! I love them so incredibly much!

A Sunny Stay at Universal's Aventura Hotel

A couple weeks ago, Universal's Aventura Hotel was kind enough to invite me for a little staycation at their brand-new hotel. This hotel just opened over the summer and is the ultimate in modern and sleek style. The best part about the hotel? It is located just minutes walking away from Universal Orlando Resort and they have free transportation to and from the parks and Universal CityWalk! One major bonus to staying at Aventura is that it also offers you early admission into the parks too! Want to get to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter before the rest of the crowds? Of course you do!

As I said earlier, this hotel is totally and completely modern. One of the coolest features is that the room has a tablet that controls everything from the lights to the tv! My friend Katie (who came along with me on this little adventure!) and I loved coming back from the parks every night to flick on the tv and watch YouTube videos. It was the perfect way to relax and unwind after our all day adventures!

Another amazing perk of Aventura is the STELLAR pool. It is seriously amazing! If you are looking for a way to cool off from the parks or just want to spend the day relaxing, this is the place to be. It even has a splash zone for kids! Though my favorite part was the outdoor fire pit and Poolside Bar area. Talk about a chill way to spend your evenings.

The most breathtaking part about Aventura in my opinion is the Rooftop Bar & Grill. It has glass windows all the way around so you can look out and see all of Universal and Volcano Bay below! The drinks were also especially yummy too! Which brings me to the food court. WOW. Seriously, this is not your average hotel breakfast bar. Aventura had so many choices of cuisine to choose from, including pizza, an Asian wok station, a salad bar (which Katie and I both really enjoyed), and even a Starbucks inside the lobby! And let me tell you, the food was absolutely delicious!

And since we were so close to Universal's CityWalk, I just couldn't help but get some yummy VooDoo Donuts to take back to the room with me for a little breakfast in bed. And of course, in true Abby fashion, I had to get the two rainbow colored ones because everything tastes better in rainbow.

I cannot thank Universal's Aventura Hotel enough for the most enjoyable and relaxing staycation! Be sure to check it out for yourself!

Also thank you to my friend Katie for coming along with me and being my ride buddy and photographer! Please check out her adorableness (@fairytalefoodie)!

Thank you as always for reading & for being supportive!
