Birthday Magic

July 25, 2018

Hiya friends!

So this past week was my 24th birthday and what better way to celebrate than going to Disney? I started off the day with a brunch with some of my closest friend at Boma. Boma is located inside Animal Kingdom Lodge and if you haven't been for breakfast the best advice I can give is- GO. Seriously this was HANDS DOWN the best breakfast I have ever had on property! It's a buffet style and they have Mickey and Simba waffles galore. There's also an entire desert table to help you get your park day started.

Then my friend Kola and I made our way to Magic Kingdom for a day full of classic fun. For my birthday, Kola bought me a Minnie balloon because I had never had one before and 24 just felt like the perfect age for it.

We spent over an hour walking up and down all of Main Street taking pictures. In the end we took over 200. Yes, you read that right. Although to be fair the above photos are about the only ones that turned out looking halfway decent. Turns out balloon photos are REALLY HARD. The wind was most certainly not our friend. Half of the pictures the balloon is completely whacking me in the face.

What I learned: TAKE A MILLION PICTURES. It's that one picture that you snap in a group of 20 that will have the balloon facing the right direction and your eyes not too squinty or dress blowing up.

The whole time we made sure to HAVE FUN with it. I cannot stress how important this is. It would have been so easy to get annoyed and fed up with how difficult it was to get cute pictures, but we would just stop and talk and flick back through all of the bad pictures and laugh at how awful they were. Don't get upset. Remember that you aren't a Jedi and you can't mind control a balloon to behave. (I tried)

After we had sufficiently worn out the fun of the balloon we decided it was time to move on to some rides. That and our faces had completely melted off because hello, it's July in Florida. So we found a little princess who we passed the balloon off to so she could make some magical memories of her own.

I cannot thank all of my friends for a completely perfect day and an amazing way to start off a new chapter in my life. Also special thank you to Kola for keeping it fun and light and capturing some of the most amazing moments for me!

Bring Back the Denim

Hiya friends!

I would like to introduce you to my new obsession: vintage denim Disney button ups. WOW. What world have I stumbled upon here? If you guys have never tried, go on eBay or Poshmark and just search 'Disney Vintage Button Up' and watch your wallet go completely empty. Honestly, there are so many cute styles and patterns that just scream fun and magic!

Plus with the revival of the 90s fashion at the moment, there's no better time to try adding some of these pieces to  your closet! I decided to take mine in a very retro fashion by pairing it with a denim skirt to get that J.T./Britney look. I felt so much like my mom because this is how she used to dress when I was a kid. Honestly though, I was kind of digging it.

So if you need me, I am probably stalking the internet trying to score some amazing vintage Disney pieces. Let me know what vintage pieces you guys love adding to your wardrobe too!

Being a Toy

July 21, 2018

Hello Friends!

This past week Katie was invited to a social media day at Toy Story Land that I got to tag along on. It was my first time ever going to a media event, so I had no idea what to expect. The coolest part of the entire experience was getting the opportunity to interview one of the Imagineers who got to work on the new Toy Story Park!

In order to make you feel like you were actually a toy, the Imagineers spent every day playing with toys inside their offices. They experimented with scale of the toys to make everything feel larger than life. The moment you walk into the park, you are greeted by a Woody high in the sky above your head. This sets up the feeling that you have ben shrunken down to the size of a toy.

What Katie pointed out that I loved so much was the distressing on the toys. Buzz's blaster had scratch marks on it, despite the fact that it is a brand new park. This gives you the sense that these are actually Andy's toys that he has been playing with since he was a kid. The amount of details that went into creating this park are truly astonishing!

I also HIGHLY recommend visiting this park at night as it comes to life. All of the sting lights above you flash in bright colors and the toys begin to brighten up in the dark. Every inch of the park becomes a colorful lit wonderland that makes staying out past your bedtime feel worth it.

I now can't wait to go back and look even closer at all of the decorations to really appreciate all the work that went into making it!

Andy's Backyard

Welcome all Toy's to Andy's Backyard!

I recently got to explore the new Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios and let me tell you all, it did not disappoint! Every single corner of this park is splashed with color and whimsy that brings back a true sense of nostalgia. The new park features two new rides: Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Saucer Spinners (which is similar to Tow Mater's ride in Carsland). It also has an amazing quick service called Woody's Lunchbox that makes some pretty freaking amazing sandwiches! Katie and I shared the S'mores sandwich which they were even able to make gluten free! I will say there is not a whole lot of shade in this park, so maybe try to go on a day when it isn't supposed to rain. Overall this park completely exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to come back and play again!
